Volunteering at the CCIJ is a way to meet new friends, learn new skills or put your existing skills into good use, be part of the international justice community that has a positive impact locally and globally.
Candidates to our volunteer positions must complete an orientation to our organization prior to collaborating with us.
Upon successfull completion of a term, our volunteers may ask us for a reference.
Volunteer positions currently available:
1. Designers
We are seeking volunteer assistance with the design of our Annual Report and for an upcoming event at the National Library & Archives. We also frequently need designers for other projects.
Design students and professionals are encouraged to get in touch if you are
interested in offering a little of your time to support our work. We can also arrange for a student to be mentored by a professional while working on a
project.

2. Legal Professionals and Law School Students

3. French Translators
The CCIJ is committed to maintaining a bilingual website in English and French. We are currently looking for a volunteer to assist us with translating our website into French.
Requirements: Demonstrated experience translating English to French legal and human rights terminology. Proven knowledge and commitment to international justice issues locally and internationally.

4. Working Groups & Communications Committee
The CCIJ is recruiting committed volunteers for two further positions:
1. Working Group Members and Chairs
The
CCIJ is looking for volunteers for its Working Groups - a central role
in the organization – in Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg,
Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax, as well as persons who would
like to start a Working Group in their own region. Specific roles
within the group vary according to interest, but involve planning and
delivering activities related to international justice and its
application in Canada. These may include public events such as film
screenings and art exhibits, information sessions for settlement
agencies, outreach to communities affected by atrocities, intake for
potential cases, research projects, and much more.
2. Communications Committee Members
The
Communications Committee provides advice and practical assistance in
the on-going development and implementation of the organization’s
communications strategy for all target audiences, including media,
decision-makers, potential clients, funders and others. The Committee
meets once per month for about two hours and members take on tasks to
implement the organization’s communications strategy.
Working Groups and Communications are part-time volunteer positions for about 5-10 hours per month.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
Demonstrated strong interest in international justice; excellent interpersonal
skills, including in multi-cultural environments; strong oral and
written communication skills; enthusiasm for planning and the will to
follow through.
Assets: Proficiency in a second or third
language; affiliation with a community affected by issues of
international justice; not-for-profit experience.

Location:
Working Groups - cities across Canada including Victoria, Vancouver,
Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax. Interest in
initiating a CCIJ presence in additional cities and regions is also
welcome. Communications Committee members may be based anywhere in Canada, participating in meetings by conference call.
Commitment Level: These are part-time volunteer positions for approx. 5 hours per month.
Contract term: One year, renewable.
